Melissa Royal

Hello everyone! My real name is Rachael Seider and I go by the writer's name Melissa Royal here (a couple years ago I thought it was a good idea and, well, now I can't change it). 

I'm in my Freshmen year of college with a major in communication and a minor in photography. I hope to graduate college and go into a career making documentaries or as a photojournalist. I want to change the world. What better way to do it than with independent media? I won't be in it for the money. I'll be in it for the joy and for the goal of changing the world in positive ways.

One world-changing event going on right now is the Occupy movement. I believe that the Occupy movement is well-needed. I'd like to document it, however, being a Freshmen in college who lacks a car, I cannot. It really is time for the world to change. Not only in economic ways, but also in ways where there is less violence and less hate. The world needs fair treatment of all of its individuals. There's a reason it's called being a individual. 

I fully stand behind equality for all. I fully stand behind the fair and just treatement of all. I fully stand behind creating a world where the rich won't overpower the poor. All in all, I fully stand behind createing a world where people are not just a number or a category: a world where people can just be people.
